Many of our boys don't have consistent access to that kind of presence at home.
For five days at camp, our male volunteers become that presence: the one who shows up early, corrects with patience, jokes around at dinner, and prays with a boy who's never seen a man do that before.
This isn't a spectator role. Our coaches are stretched thin every year — managing behavior, discipline, logistics, and mentorship all at once. More men on the ground means every boy gets more attention, not less. It means a struggling camper gets noticed sooner. It means the boy who's never had a father figure or positive role model gets to sit across from one at dinner.
We're not asking for perfection.
We're asking for presence — men willing to show up, serve, and let a boy watch how they carry themselves under pressure, in prayer, and in ordinary moments like cleaning up after a meal.
If you've ever wondered whether you have something to offer the next generation of boys — you do.
This is the invitation.
This is what showing up looks like.

You don't need to be a perfect role model.
You need to be present, consistent, and willing to serve.
Roles fit different strengths.
Mentoring, cabin supervision, sports and recreation, teaching, logistics, transportation — there's a place for how you're wired.
Distance isn't a barrier.
Volunteers have flown in from out of state, and even internationally, in past years.
You'll go through training first.
Every volunteer completes an application, screening, and orientation before serving, so you'll know exactly what's expected.
You don't need a background in ministry or education.
You need a willingness to show up for a boy who needs to see a good man do ordinary things well.
Before you apply, a few things to know:
- Volunteers must be 18 or older
- Volunteering is a privilege, not a right — BLA requires a background check and camp leadership approval for every volunteer
- We're looking for people of good character and genuine faith, with no history of abuse, violence, sexual misconduct, or crimes against minors
- This express-interest form is just the first step — if it's a fit, we'll follow up with the full application, background check, references, and mandatory orientation before camp
